Maintainance or Lack Thereof

Weight loss is a never ending task.

Even after you get where you want to go, staying there can be problematic. Almost nothing in the dieting world prepares you for maintaining your weight loss. Over time even the most determined of us can loose focus. This happens in so many small ways that it just creeps up on you.

The positive side of this is how bracing it is, what an eye opener, like a cold shower that suddenly makes you aware of just how much bare skin you really have. The first time you put on that shirt that fit great last fall and now feels snug is like an alarm bell. It was for me at least.

I have been so happy living on the thin side of things that NOTHING is going to send me back to living in my old fat suit. NOTHING. So, rather than get discouraged I recommend taking action.

How? Reading all my BFC and BFCFT notes. Recommitting to eating grain free. Watching my portion sizes, No nightime eating. And, move, move, move. Staying patient, staying positive. Slowing things down to a mindful bite at a time. Works for me.

To Blog or Not To Blog...that is the question...

It has literally been months since I posted anything in this blog. I am still here, still on the BFC Fast Track/Primal Path, still working to be 100% grain free, still sort of stuck in the same place, wondering what the point of it all is anyhow.

I am amazed to still be a size 8.

I AM eating right, but still amazed anyhow. I am continuing to exercise, I still have not missed a day in almost 2 years, again an amazement to me, but I am simply stubborn to the max. It is still the FIRST thing I do in the morning, every morning, before anything else, on an empty stomach, for about 40 min. give or take a couple minutes either way.

The last few months I have doubled up my workout, my body felt as if I could do it, as indeed I can, so why not simply go for it..

I have not renewed my gym membership, not sure why. In a way I have outgrown it. And, it is more expensive than previously. The amount of money I have has not increased, so that is that. At least for now.,

Looked in the Mirror today and saw I have regained some weight

Looking in the mirror has always been problematic for me. I have never felt that I like myself or that I look good enough. When I began the FT I literally forced myself to look in the mirror. Not that it was easy, because I had convinced myself for such a long time that I was not fat, that I looked passable. It was hard to honestly look, but so worth it, because once I looked, I really SAW.

And today I really SAW. Once again.

Once you see the problem, once you admit it, then you can begin to SOLVE it. Since then, the mirror has been my scale. I have made myself look, and photograph too, so I can look again if need be.

For me at the moment the solution will be two fold. First, get back to the FT basics that fell a bit by the wayside as I struggled through the holidays. It doesn't take much to get off track, which is of course the major disadvantage of this way of eating. You have to keep going, on the straight and narrow, at least 80 percent of the time.

If not, the belly returns, slow but steady. Go over that 100 carb limit, and what Mark calls slow and insidious weight gain will be your reward. All I can say is, he is right.

So back to basics once again. My second solution involves tight pants. Tight pants keep you honest, and remind you every minute you wear them to be vigilant. So, tight pants it is.

All my size 8 skinny jeans still fit just fine, and I want them to stay that way.

Jan 1 2012 Staying the Course in the Year 2012

I have tried again and again to get back into blogging with little success. Not sure why any enthusiasm for the act of blogging eludes me this time, but since blogging was helpful to me before I am going to try once again.

I am feeling like I need to refine and re-energise my focus in order to stick to my eating plan and continue to lose more weight. So here I am. The best is yet to come...this is what I want to send out into the ethos, that positive vibe, and that, I CAN DO THIS/I WILL DO THIS  feeling.

Once again I am not sure if I can. Once again I am not sure if success is a given. Once again I feel like I will be stepping off the edge of a cliff without a parachute, but be that as it may, off I go. I have learned in the past to believe that I can, regardless of my fears, to proceed as if my success IS in fact a given, to take it a step at a time, a meal at a time, a moment at a time.

Here I go world, the best IS yet to come...
